There has been lots going on at Newtown Church of England Primary School with major investment in all aspects of our wonderful school to create a vibrant and nurturing educational environment for your child. Newtown is situated in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, less than 10 minutes from the centre of Wem, and we invite any prospective parents to come and visit us to see what makes us so special.
We have recently revitalised our facilities, including the development of a new Forest School area and shelter, school garden, library and running track. The large school grounds, with far reaching views over the beautiful countryside, are a real feature of our school and allow the children a sense of space as they enjoy the outdoor environment.

Our school offers a curriculum which is inspirational and aspirational and designed to enrich the learning experience of every child. These experiences include weekly musical instrument lessons from Year 1 onwards and our specialised PE coaches ensures that children receive expert teaching helping them to build confidence and sporting skills.
At Newtown, we strongly believe that learning should extend beyond the classroom. This belief is why Forest School sessions are accessed by all children from Nursery to Year 6, why the children look after ex-battery hens and why we arrange a trip or visit every term for each class. This allows the children to explore new horizons, engage with different experiences and see what life looks like in the real world. These experiences are integral in making education both invigorating and memorable.
Our staff team is friendly, warm and enthusiastic about creating a positive and nurturing environment for the children where the school and parents can work together to enable children to flourish academically and personally.
For those busy families in need of flexible childcare, we offer wraparound care from 7:30am to 5:30pm which offers a range of activities from Cooking to Craft and Debate to Darts.
