Following the success of the first Wem Rural Parish Council Community Drop-In in January, we’re delighted to invite residents to the next session at Edstaston Village Hall. These friendly gatherings, held on the third Wednesday of every month, offer a warm and welcoming space to connect with others, access support, and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, and a slice of cake—all free of charge.

At our upcoming session, we are pleased to welcome Wem SEN Hub, who will be on hand to offer peer support for parent carers. If you’re caring for a child with special educational needs, this is a fantastic opportunity to meet others who understand the challenges and joys of your journey. Children are welcome, making it easy for parent carers to attend.

Ever thought about making a real difference in your local community? With elections coming up, now is the perfect time to learn more about becoming a councillor. At the Community Drop-In, you’ll have the chance to chat with current councillors, ask questions about the role, and find out how you can stand for election. Being a councillor is a rewarding way to represent local voices, influence decisions, and help shape the future of Wem Rural. If you’re passionate about your community, why not consider stepping forward?

Whether you need help with digital devices, advice on local services, or just a friendly chat, these sessions are open to everyone. The January session saw residents receiving tech support, while the Shropshire Armed Forces Outreach team provided specialist guidance for military personnel, veterans, and their families. Each month brings new opportunities to connect and benefit from local resources.
